Accurate Temperature Measurement. Installed Without Interrupting Operations.
Temperature data is only as reliable as the installation behind it.
At WellFab, we provide engineered thermowell insertion solutions that allow facilities to add or upgrade temperature measurement points while systems remain online whenever conditions permit. From placement strategy to installation execution, we focus on achieving accurate readings while protecting piping integrity, process stability, and long-term reliability.
Whether supporting district energy networks, industrial utilities, process piping, or mechanical systems, our approach combines field execution with engineering-driven installation practices.

Why Thermowell Placement Matters
A thermowell does more than protect a temperature sensor. Its location, insertion depth, and installation method directly affect:
✓ Measurement accuracy
✓ Sensor response time
✓ Flow disturbance
✓ Mechanical loading and vibration resistance
✓ Long-term reliability and maintainability
Improper placement can lead to unstable readings, accelerated fatigue, and unnecessary maintenance.

Multiple Thermowell Installations
When multiple temperature measurement points are required, thermowell placement becomes critical to maintaining measurement consistency and minimizing flow disturbance.
WellFab evaluates flow conditions, pipe geometry, insertion depth, and installation spacing to support reliable long term performance and maintainability.

Offset-Angle Installation
Install multiple thermowells at the same location using controlled angular separation to reduce interaction between sensing points and simplify future maintenance access.

Inline Installation
Install thermowells sequentially along the pipeline with engineered spacing to support stable process conditions and consistent measurement performance.
Thermowell Installation at Elbows
Facing Upstream
Thermowell tip positioned before elbow-induced turbulence to support more stable and representative temperature measurement.
Facing Downstream
Thermowell tip positioned after the elbow where flow effects may influence measurement and should be considered during placement.

Thermowell Installation at Elbows
Installing a thermowell near a pipe elbow can position the sensing tip closer to the center of the flow stream, improving temperature measurement accuracy.

Facing Upstream
The sensing tip is positioned upstream of the elbow’s turbulence zone, reducing the effects of mixing and swirl. This configuration is commonly preferred for improved measurement stability.

Facing Downstream
The sensing tip is positioned downstream of the elbow where flow disturbances may occur. While more conservative from a mechanical design standpoint, downstream placement may expose the sensor to additional turbulence.
