24″ HOT TAP – LIVE OPERATION

Project Overview

WellFab completed a 24″ live hot tap on an active large-diameter pipeline, allowing a new connection to be established while the system remained pressurized and operational.

The work required detailed planning around equipment positioning, valve alignment, cutting control, pressure integrity, coupon retention, and safe operation of the tapping equipment throughout the live connection.

Project Impact

Completing the 24″ connection live allowed the existing system to remain operational while the new connection was installed. This avoided the operational disruption, drain-down, refill, recommissioning, and scheduling requirements associated with a conventional shutdown.
