2 × 8″ HOT TAPS - Chiller Underground Water Line

Project Overview

This project involved two 8″ live hot taps on an active underground chiller water line. WellFab installed the required branch fittings and isolation valves, performed controlled live cutting, verified coupon capture, monitored pressure integrity, and restored the connection points after completion.

The completed connections provided added system flexibility while allowing the chiller water system to remain operational throughout the work.

Scope of Work

✓ Completed two 8″ live hot taps on the active underground chiller water line while maintaining continuous system operation.

✓ Installed engineered branch fittings and isolation valves to create secure, serviceable connection points.

✓ Performed controlled cutting under pressure using specialized hot tapping equipment and a carefully planned procedure.

✓ Captured and verified both pipe coupons to confirm clean, complete cuts and prevent loose material from entering the system.

✓ Restored and secured all connection points following completion of the hot tapping work.
